Finding beauty, decay, and unanswered questions in Yorklyn’s ruins I visited Yorklyn De, where there are ruins and abandoned building galore to explore. Here is a place where the bones of industry still jut out from the earth like ruins of some long lost civilization. Hidden in the hills along Red Clay Creek, the village was once a thriving mill town, loud with machinery, smoke, and the constant churn of industry. Now it feels suspended somewhere between history and haunting. Brick walls crumbling and trees growing where they don’t belong. Rusted gears sleep in rooms and in fields. Empty windows

Bethany Beach I’m starting this first post of this series of posts from my trip to Delaware on the last day of my trip.  We got up before sunrise to go to the ocean side of Bethany Beach.  There’s something a little ironic about that. The trip was ending just as the day was beginning. While everything around me was starting fresh, I was standing there at the finish line.  I was packed, the van loaded and I was dreading to go home.  Camera in hand, we arrived just as the entire sun rose above the horizon.  But that was

My Personal Syllabus Or Better Yet  “Who I Want to Be!” About a year and a half ago, I made the decision to give up social media.  I found it to be a time drain, a rabbit hole here and a rabbit hole there.  All the arguing, dissention, bickering, it was absurd.  It just didn’t seem worth it.  I would come home from work and get online, then before I knew it, it was time to go to bed.  Ten plus years ago, I gave up television for the same reason.  I haven’t owned a TV or cable since.  That’s

Grounds for Sculpture.  A place to unleash your imagination!     Oh, how wonderful Grounds for Sculpture is!  A truly marvelous place to visit. I absolutely adore Grounds for Sculpture!   It’s a true wonderland for art enthusiasts and nature lovers. The large sculptures are simply awe-inspiring, with their grandiosity and intricate designs. You’ll find yourself spellbound by the sheer talent and creativity displayed throughout the park.   At Grounds for Sculpture, they recreate life size sculptures of the great masters, Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir.  At every turn there’s a new and exciting work recreated and inviting you to come and

I get a lot of my travel inspiration from a website called Atlas Obscura. They always have a lot of pictures showcasing the destinations. It was located in a small town and didn’t look very big. When I discovered that this particular place was located near two spots I had been longing to visit, my excitement reached new heights!  I figured it would be “free”; after all it’s in the name “Innesfree Gardens”.  Then I would go on to the Bennet Girls College and see if I could get in there and if not on to the Dover Church Cave.
